Our commitment
This 5-year R&D program aims to create a range of innovative nautical textiles, with reduced environmental impact and made in France.
It is based on the circular economy model, relying on the supply of bio-sourced and/or low environmental impact raw materials while reducing waste disposal.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is used to measure the environmental performance of various semi-finished products, prototype products, and manufacturing processes.
In order to control the end of life of boat sails, treatment, biodegradability and waste reduction are integrated from the design phases.
As this Life Cycle Analysis graph shows: replacing Aramid fibers with Flax fibers has resulted in a 65% reduction in CO2 equivalent generated in the production of this material.

CLM - TRILAM
CLM was founded in 2005, after 15 years of experience in the sailmaking world.
The company's mission is to design and manufacture innovative technical fabrics.
Its markets are mainly those for sailcloth for ocean racing, regattas and cruising.

UBS - IRDL
The Materials Engineering Laboratory of Brittany (LIMATB) and the Brest Mechanics and Systems Laboratory (LBMS) merged their research and training activities to create the Dupuy de Lôme Research Institute (IRDL) on January 1, 2016. This merger aims to address the challenges of materials engineering.
